The course aims to equip the prospective teachers with the necessary pedagogical content knowledge for the teaching of basic contents in mathematics in the intermediate grades. Understanding and appreciation of key concepts and skills involving numbers and number sense, measurement, geometry, patterns and algebra, statistics and probability as applied using appropriate technology in critical thinking, problem solving, reasoning, communicating, making connections, representations and decisions in real life. Various principles and appropriate teaching approaches, methods and techniques associated with Mathematics Instruction towards assuming responsibility for independent learning will be emphasized.
