The course aims to prepare future teachers in teaching religious education. The course begins by looking into Kohlberg’s theory of moral development and Fowler’s theory on the stages of the spiritual development which serve as the ground in teaching religious education. The course also presents the different approaches and strategies in teaching religious education. Moreover, the course focuses mainly on the Context-Inspired word- Church Teaching- Missionary Response (CICM) approach which aims to bring out and emphasize the CICM identity of the SMU Teacher Education graduates. As such, the course provides training and practice in constructing learning plans following the CICM approach as well as practice using the said approach through demonstration teachings
