It is about how people of different persuasions respond to various types of literary works, and how their responses are explained in the form of theory. It deals with the application of general and specific principles of literary analysis. By extension, it is also about how to teach literature.
Like other university courses, Lit 134 is a form of inquiry. In particular, it is an inquiry into the nature, function, and study of literature. It presents certain fundamental issues and clarifies how these issues can be addressed in various ways.
