Evolutionary Biology Lecture

This course covers the rudiments of evolutionary biology, starting with the pre-Darwinian evolutionary ideas and modern perspectives, including bioinformatics. The laboratory activities include a synopsis of the book, On the Origin of Species, as it is commonly claimed among biologists that it is pathetic to see a student in biology quoting Darwin or talking about the work of Darwin without having read the book. Laboratory activities also include some simulations of selected microevolutionary and macroevolutionary processes. Mathematical models are used to demonstrate evolution in action through the principles of microevolution. The course further delves into the study of the origins of primeval life and the evolutionary history and direction of human evolution.
