Immunology and Serology
I. COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is designed to provide basic concepts and laboratory skills in Immunology for students pursuing MLS program. It intends to provide the students with a comprehensive view of the Immune System and how it works in health and disease. The focus is in the basic mechanisms driving the innate and adaptive immune responses against foreign organisms and molecules. It also includes the study of molecular mechanisms that trigger and sustain autoimmune and malignant (cancer) processes.

II. COURSE OBJECTIVE
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
1. Explain the Immune system of the body
2. Apply the principles of Immunology in Serology and laboratory diagnosis of specific disease through the use of serological reactions.
3. Appreciate the importance of the course in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
4. Manifest the following values: Integrity, Honesty, Critical thinking, Empathy and value of life.
