Description

This course deals with the importance of socio-cultural, political and economic history of the world from ancient period to the modern era. It also includes and analyzes the main contributions of the early civilizations, emergence of nations, the 19th century as well as geographical and industrial innovations. Finally, the course enjoins students to reflect on the world historical events and how these contribute to the contemporary life of humanity.

Course Objectives

          By the end of the course, the students should be able to:

 1.    familiarize themselves with the different civilization and cultures that have evolved through time and identify the major contributions of the early civilizations that have shaped the life of people in the past and at present;

 2.    Identify the major socio-cultural, political and economic contributions to great civilization to the contemporary world; and

 3.    develop appreciation of the various aspects of historical achievements that shaped contemporary way of life.
