Violence Against Women and Children

This course encompasses all forms of violence against women and children, including domestic violence, child maltreatment, sexual violence and harmful traditional practices.  it covers the psychosocial and legal issues regarding violence against women and children, definitions and conceptual boundaries, connection between forms of violence against women and child maltreatment, situational analysis of children in conflict with the law, and police intervention strategies in handling victim-survivors.

This subject also aims to develop students' skill in the evaluation and management of women and children suspected of being abused.  Integral to both evaluation and management will be the knowledge of the relevant legislation, policing and protective agencies, injury patterns, specialized investigative techniques and treatment.
