Advanced Networking (NET-102a) provides students with an in-depth, hands-on exploration of complex enterprise networking concepts, protocols, and modern network architectures. Building upon foundational computer networking knowledge, this course prepares third-year IT students to design, implement, troubleshoot, and secure scalable local and wide area networks.
Students will delve into advanced switching and routing technologies, dynamic routing protocols (such as OSPF and BGP), enterprise virtual private networks (VPNs), network automation, and modern infrastructure paradigms like Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and cloud networking. Through virtual network simulation labs, configuration exercises, and real-world network design projects, students will develop the critical technical skills required for enterprise network engineering, administration, and infrastructure management.
