This course is mainly concerned with principles of human anatomy and physiology. It is concerned with the study of the internal and external structures of the human body. It describes the structures from the smallest constituent part, the cell, to the major tissues, organs and complex systems of the human body. This course also discusses how the delicate machinery of the human body operates in relation to the structures. It makes students understand how a system of the body works as well as how it interacts with other parts of the body. It also invites the students to the journey of physiological processes, sensations, adaptations, disorders, and explanations which make us understand ourselves better. Students will learn through reading, virtual discussions, video lessons, case studies, collaborative group work, interactive laboratory activities and others.
The laboratory portion of the course is an integral part of the education in anatomy and physiology. It provides a hands-on learning experience for exploration of human system components and general physiology. The worksheets engage students in activities that are defined as pre-lab, in-lab and post-lab, all the while challenging the students to use their lab experiences to enhance their knowledge of human anatomy and physiology. Students will be responsible for proper use of laboratory equipment, laboratory reports, research and group projects assigned throughout each unit. Dissection of model animal organisms such as frog, laboratory mice and other appropriate organs will complement the course. Systems to be studied include integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and special senses.

Christian Faith Education (CFE) begins with this course. CFE 101 discusses the stories of the continuing journey of God with His people. The Biblical stories will serve as inspiration and guide in recognizing the unlimited and unconditional love of God to humanity and the world. Our journey with God started in His encounter with the people in the Old Testament led by Abraham and the prophets. God’s journey continued in the New Testament through His final and definitive revelation to bring the message of salvation – Jesus Christ. The journey continues today in our Christian communities through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The encounter of the early Christians (led by Jesus’ disciples) with God inspires and reminds us of the faithfulness of God to people, then and now, and in the days to come, as He said, “And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.” (Mt 28: 20).

The IGT tasks are also designed to guide students to generate ideas and talk about topics. Likewise, question and answer activities provide students with answer maps so that they can discuss their topic with substance and organization. Lastly, to address the current language needs of students, tasks in conversational English are prepared.
