This course examines the psychological and sociological processes and theories related to first and second language acquisition and development. It reviews the nature of language and language learning and warrants the discussion on the theories of second language acquisition. The course also engages the students in an active application of the theories and ideas in second language acquisition and development manifested in their sharing, critiques of articles, and simple research. The course culminates with the symposium on second language acquisition for English majors.
