Environmental Chemistry

This is a subject that applies the fundamental principles of Inorganic, Organic, Industrial, Analytical, and Biochemistry. It is an integrated branch of chemistry that deals not only with the study of the environment but also in understanding the factors that have detrimental effects on the spheres of the environment. Moreover, this course will focus on the preservation of flora and fauna of the ecosphere by applying the principles of chemistry.

This course includes the following topics on the spheres of the environment, biogeochemical cycles, aquatic chemistry, phase interactions, aquatic microbial biochemistry, water pollution, water treatment, atmospheric chemistry, gaseous organic and inorganic pollutants, photochemical smog and the global atmosphere, geochemistry, hazardous wastes, and the toxicological chemistry.
