It covers the most important elements to consider when forming a cooperative, including special expertise needs and sources of help. The course emphasizes working with groups of producers to develop markets and sources of supply. It also broadens to include nonfarm cooperatives and improves cooperative operations in areas like marketing, financing, and organizational structure. The course prepares students to understand the cooperative definition, nature, types, administrative structure, management, responsibilities, rights, financing, and dissolution processes.
It is designed to equip students with knowledge of how to administer cooperatives and rural financing institutions, manage their funds, and support their roles in agricultural and rural development contexts.
