Inorganic Chemistry

This course will provide graduate students with a foundation in the theoretical principles and the descriptive chemistry of the elements of the periodic table. The objective is to introduce the concepts of symmetry, bonding, oxidation-reduction, molecular structure, and acid-base chemistry, then to use this framework to understand the chemistry of the elements, with a focus on the d and f block transition metals. Through readings and presentations on the current literature, students will develop a knowledge base of current interests in organic chemistry.
