Second Language Teaching: From Theory to Practice
This course examines the linguistic, socio-linguistic and ideological perspectives involved in the paradigm shifts made in language teaching and learning. It reviews the theoretical underpinnings and developments in Second Language Teaching (SLT) as it presents historically the different approaches, methods, strategies and techniques. It brings out current practices in language classrooms and presents alternative ways of teaching language in specific contexts. It further presents language issues and trends that help explain natural phenomena in SLT.
