Computer-Aided Design

AutoCAD is used to design Residential and Commercial building projects. The designs can be made in 2D or 3D to get an actual feel for how the building and its surroundings will look like once it is fully built. Buildings and models can be digitally constructed using this software. It can also help in figuring out the elevation and plans.

SketchUp on the other hand is a digital modeling and planning program. Most people use it to plan and design buildings to scale with the programs measuring tools, and create detailed prototypes of new ideas. It is a very versatile, easy to use modeling program, and a more detailed version of old CAD drafting programs of years gone by. It lets you easily build in 3 dimensions, or build simple blueprint style schematics.
