This course provides social studies teachers with a comprehensive overview of effective approaches relative to the educational process. Emphasis will be placed on holistic understanding of the nature of social studies education primarily on its historical, philosophical, and theoretical foundations. The course also emphasizes evidence-based strategies and approaches in teaching citizenship, and trends in teaching the discipline in flexible learning approach. Graduate students are expected to conduct an intervention study about a particular social studies class, and a documentation of their application of the methods teaching social studies.

The course deals with varied teaching strategies and approaches that will help special children develop their cognitive, psychomotor and creative abilities. Current trends and issues will also be integrated in the discussions.

This course covers the different legal forms or legal documents used by various agencies of the government including judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, and private institutions especially the law enforcement agencies.
