This course deals with the background of modern libraries and of librarianship as a profession, the characteristics and functions of different types of libraries and information centers. It also includes the philosophy of traditional and modern librarianship; the legal bases, code of ethics, and modern practices; the major services of the library; and the current trends and issues concerning library and information science.
