The course is a principled approach to language testing designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge on language assessment as one area of instruction. It focuses on the theoretical underpinnings of language assessment and their application to language teaching and learning. It also includes the exploration of methods in designing language tests in the different language areas such as listening, speaking, reading, writing, and viewing including grammar with the application of ICT, and the discussion of issues in language testing and studies conducted that pertain to assessment of language skills. It is task-oriented, and it allows the students to construct, present and critique formative and summative language tests applicable to the English subjects they are teaching.

Course Description: This course presents Genetics along the concepts and principles of molecular and cellular basis of inheritance, classical or transmission Genetics, population Genetics and DNA Biotechnology. Each of the topics requires comprehensive, mathematical, interpretative and predictive analyses. A special research project is the major output of this course.

This course traces the history of the Church from Pentecost to Pre-Reformation. An examination of the history of the church from the first century to the dawn of the Reformation (1500). Attention will be given to the major events, people, and issues that have shaped church history within this time period, as well as how these things integrate with biblical norms.—2014-2016 catalog. This is a reading course but as well integrates pastoral issues in the various ecclesial communities in the current context.

This course explores on the various approaches to doing a relevant and practicable theological endeavor which includes paradigm shifting, and methodical approaches emphasizing on the methods of teaching Christian faith education and ministerial works in the Church. It engages in a mutual dialogue between the Tradition and traditions towards the formation and transformation of persons and communities in faith through concrete evangelization.
This course affirms that renewed perspectives in doing theology, particularly in indigenous categories, will lead to a more intelligible, culturally rooted faith-life experiences of people, which we call theology of inculturation or contextual theology.

The course is a principled approach to the study of the English language and how it works in contexts. This is designed to equip the graduate students with a comprehensive knowledge of language and linguistics. It focuses on the English sound system, the external structure of words, the grammatical structure of sentences as well as the formation of meanings and the way these are communicated through words and larger grammatical units. Further, it explores how these meanings are affected by context of use and context of situation. It also includes the exploration of implications to English language pedagogy and research. The students are expected to critique existing articles in applied linguistics and English language studeis and to write a review of related literature as a stand-alone paper demonstrating critical analysis, synthesis, evaluation, and ethics in research.

This course covers the nature, notions, theories and principles related to reading and writing and the application of such theories/principles to the teaching of reading and writing. It is aimed at acquainting or re-orienting teachers with the important aspects of reading and writing instruction and at presenting more practical information about the process of reading and writing to affirm or redirect existing practices of language teachers who are expected to be equipped with knowledge, principles and skills that enable them to adapt/develop strategies to ensure optimum development of their students’ reading and writing skills.

The course is a principled approach to the study of English grammar using both the descriptivist and the prescriptivist points of view in describing and explaining linguistics phenomena, including the changes happening in the English language in the 20th century. Students are expected to analyze the grammatical structures of texts and to explore research-based theories, approaches, and principles in the study of syntax . The graduate students are expected to critically analyze research-based articles related to syntax/grammar and to write a review of related literature in syntax/grammar as a stand-alone project.
