MMedia 131 is a subject under the BA Communications program that introduces the art of visual communication through typography and layout design. In this course, students will be able to understand the principles behind the architecture of type and layout and their relation to the development of easy-to-read, aesthetic, and visually well-organized digital or print materials. Students will thereafter apply design and typography theories and principles to conceptualize solutions to more complex visual communication problems through the use of graphic design softwares of their choice.

This course assists you in your journey to understanding the self. It deals with the nature of identity, as well the factors that contribute to the development and maintenance of identity. The course was designed to facilitate the exploration of issues and concerns regarding the self and identity to arrive at a better understanding of one's self.
The course is divided into three parts:
Part I: seeks to construct the self through an exploration of various disciplinal perspectives such as philosophy, psychology, sociology and anthropology.
Part II: provides insight on the aspects that make up the self including the physical and sexual selves.
Part III: focused on managing the self and highlights perspectives on self-care. The end goal of the course is to give you an ultimate understanding of your self for optimal self-development.

The course is intended to facilitate the exploration of the issues and concerns regarding self and identity to arrive at a better understanding of one’s self. It strives to meet its goal by stressing the integration of the personal with the academic – contextualizing matters discussed in the classroom and in the everyday experiences of students –making for better learning, generating a new appreciation for the learning process, and developing a more critical and reflective attitude while enabling them to manage and improve their selves to attain a better quality of life.
