Students learn the main methods of valuation (intrinsic and relative), their strengths and weaknesses, and when to apply each. This course encompasses all forms of violence against women and children, including domestic violence, child maltreatment, sexual violence and harmful traditional practices. it covers the psychosocial and legal issues regarding violence against women and children, definitions and conceptual boundaries, connection between forms of violence against women and child maltreatment, situational analysis of children in conflict with the law, and police intervention strategies in handling victim-survivors.
This subject also aims to develop students' skill in the evaluation and management of women and children suspected of being abused. Integral to both evaluation and management will be the knowledge of the relevant legislation, policing and protective agencies, injury patterns, specialized investigative techniques and treatment.

It also includes and analyzes the main contributions of the early civilizations, emergence of nations, the 19th century as well as geographical and industrial innovations. Finally, the course enjoins students to reflect on the world historical events and how these contribute to the contemporary life of humanity.
Course Objectives
By the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. familiarize themselves with the different civilization and cultures that have evolved through time and identify the major contributions of the early civilizations that have shaped the life of people in the past and at present;
2. Identify the major socio-cultural, political and economic contributions to great civilization to the contemporary world; and
